FREETOWN – Deputy Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Augustine Ngobie asked Govt. for 83 Billion Leone for the 2021 financial year.

The Deputy Commissioner continued that to strengthen the fight against corruption, ACC needs Le 83.33 billion.

He noted that they asked the government of Sierra Leone for  Le 78.33 billion which is 94% and donors for 5.00 billion which is 6% which summed up to Le 83.33 billion.

That the key deliverables for 2021 is to roll out the national Anti-corruption Strategy to all Ministries Department Agencies.

That 100% of IMCs in the NACS action plan are monitored and have their performance assessed in 2021.

Ngobie pointed out that they will do systems and processes reviews for at least three MDAs, at least three informal sector organizations, monitoring of service delivery in at least three MDAs to complete investigations of at least 60% of corruption cases that may be reported, to galvanize public support to fight against corruption through the empowerment of 225 communities, 530 radio talk shows 500 articles on knowledge about the ACC and 175 television programs nationwide.

According to him, access and outreach to 350 educational institutions such as JSS, SSS, Tertiary with Anti-corruption messages with the aim of cultivating integrity in the young generation and also verification of at least 60% of assets declaration forms for politically and financially exposed persons and the completion of their headquarters at tower hill.

He said by 2023, they will establish a division of the high court for corruption trials, with adequate facilities for judges and other personnel an oversight and inter agency coordination mechanism to combat all forms of corruption, especially illicit financial flows.

Civil societies, NSA non – actors move a motion for their budget to be approved.
