FREETOWN- Sierra Leone Cricket Association is presently engage in a one month online training of Umpires and Scorers. According to the CEO of the association, Francis Samura, they are targeting 100 participants both beginners and elite Umpires and scorers.
He went on that the above training will end at the end of January 2021. The training, he said will take place both in the City and in the provinces.
He went on that presently they are on the first quarter which involves umpires with certificates and those that have attempted the course but don’t have certificate yet.
According to him, the first quarter will involve 50 participants who in turn will help to train school pupils and teachers both in the city and the provinces for the second quarter.
Apart from training, they will be also officiating domestic leagues in the country. For the elite umpires, he said the above training will help them to refresh them on the new laws of the game.
The online training is one part of the ICC road map for the year 2021, he said. At the end of the course Francis said the participants will be accessed by Debruta Cricket Operations Manager of T20 Community Cricket in UK. He is also the Chairman of the Umpire Association in Sore, UK. He will at the end give certificates to those who will perform well.
