FREETOWN – Youth and children’s Advocacy Panel ( YACAP) on the 31st of January collaborated with Delvina’s Children Foundation to Donate School materials and clothing to young girls from Nursery, primary and secondary level at the East end part of Freetown.
Chief executive Officer Delvina’s Children Foundation (DCF) Kadijatu Delvina Bangura said that their mission is to help school going pupil understand how democracy works, human rights, care for the environment, awareness of sustainability, foster care service and providing basic support to the less privileged children.
Madam Delvina said that she encouraged these children to focus on their studies, because of the advantages that comes with getting a degree.
She emphasized on the importance of Education, which she points out to be an important issue in one’s life.
She continued by stating that Education is the key to success in the future and that it will create many opportunities in life.
Youth Ambassador. Sulaiman Mansaray pointed out that the tool that a child would need first is the capacity to understand the concepts of kindness, thinking not just in an effective way but also in an intellectual way.
He noted that their organization YACAP has been on the forefront fighting for their rights, better life, and quality education of school going pupils, promoting laws that ensure the right of children are not being violated and they are protected by these laws.
He stressed on how child trafficking and child labor has been a major challenge mostly, affecting children in Sierra Leone, with those whose parents cannot afford to meet their basic needs becoming more vulnerable.
