FREETOWN, March 03, (232News) – The newly established Waterloo Rural Community Hospital over the weekend conducted free screening for residents of Waterloo and its environs.
The free screening is part of the many good gestures the hospital has to patients.
Owner and Chief Executive Officer for Waterloo Rural Community Hospital Dr. Gladstone Tucker recalled that the hospital opened a week ago officially and has started full operation on Monday 1st March 2021.
He explained that they decided to do free screening which is checkup for the community and it will go towards their future registration.
The process is for them to check blood sugar, blood pressure among others through that they will determine and advice the patients.
He said those two diseases mostly result in a lot of other chronic problems such as stroke and heart attack.
“If we identify those at risk we will be able to work with them control it for it not to go to full bloom disease and also advise them to change their life style. This mean we as provider and they as community will work together.”
Dr. Tucker went on to say all those that participated in the free screening when they visited the hospital for the second time a discount will be given for registration.
He disclosed that they wanted to focus on non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and stroke.
He further stated that Waterloo Rural Community Hospital will treat patients with respect, dignity, compassion and empathy as that are the operative words in that hospital.
He informed his audience that they don’t owe any obligation to come to the hospital after the free screening but advised them to consider the distance to see Doctors out all Waterloo community as they care for the community.
Dr. Enoch A. Moijeh Medical Officer said they want to know how people are doing by helping them and to know how their body is doing and give them the appropriate advice.
He said those that participate in the free screening details will be in the main registering of the hospital for any future visit.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed thanks and appreciation to Dr. Tucker and team for considering them first. They said it showed that the hospital belonged to the community and such relationship will grow from strength to strength.
The CHO, Alfred A. Lahai also made a statement.
