FREETOWN, May 19, (SALONE TIMES) – Since the advent of President Julius Maada Bio in 2018, Sierra Leoneans have been raising eyebrow over the frequent travelling of the President and other members of his government.
This concern by progressive Sierra Leoneans have even prompted radical musicians to sing about the frequency of the President Travelling which they deemed as not beneficial to the people of Sierra Leone.
This, they believed is one of the reasons for the over bloated government expenditure which has impacted on the economy of the country negatively.
The recently published General Purpose Financial Statement on the Consolidated Fund by the Accountant General of Sierra Leone has actually given credence to the concerns of progressive Sierra Leoneans.
According to the document, the Government of Sierra Leone expended the sum of 27.482 Billion Leones which is actually lower than the 40.432 Billion Leones that was expended on same in 2019.
Recently concerns have also been over a leaked document that was published indicating that President and his wife expended the sum of $3M which is correspondingly 3 Billion Leones on what the first lady described as honeymoon in an island in Lebanon.
Sierra Leoneans believed that while majority of them are suffering the government is busy spending lavishly on things that will satisfy their unmitigated selfish rapacity.
