FREETOWN, July 1 (SALONE TIMES) – The new executive of the Sierra Leone Sports Writers Association (SWASAL) headed Sahr Morris Jr. has in their first general meeting released names of working committees and the members that will serve in them.
In his statement at the Harry Yanssaneh Hall at Campbell Street in Freetown, he said they have set up committees to help them run the affairs of the association.
Among the committees formed is the Welfare committee which is formed to look into the welfare of the members. The Welfare committee is headed by the former Financial Secretary Mohamed Konneh, Disciplinary Committee headed by the former President Frank Cole, Sports World Editorial Board headed by Mr. Sayoh Kamara as the Editor In Chief, Commentary Committee headed by Abu Bakarr Kanu, Fund Raising Committee headed by Alhaji Komba, Awards Committee to be headed by another former president Alhaji Faja Barrie, SWASAL Diaspora Committee headed by David Mahdi, SWASAL Games and Sports Committee headed by Sorie Ibrahim Sesay and International Games Committee headed by Bernard Turay.
In the meeting, the executive also informed its members that they have gone into agreement with the Sierra Leone Cricket Association to train some of their members how to report Cricket matches.
The three days training will start on Wednesday 7th July 2021 to Friday 9th July 2021. It was also agreed that those who will be taking part in the training will be the ones the association will use to cover their international and local competitions.
The Association in return also welcome the agreement as it will be a way of giving publicity to the game. The executive also gave updates about the activities outline for the celebration of the International Sports Day on the 2nd July 2021.
