FREETOWN, Sep 1 (SALONE TIMES) – Deputy Executive Director of the National Sports Authority Dr. Abdul Rahman Swaray gave words of courage to the contingent of the Paralympic team in Japan.

In addressing the team just after Sierra Leone’s first event at the Olympic Stadium in Japan, he thanked the athletes for their effort first to qualify Sierra Leone for the Paralympic Games.

Dr. Swaray told the athletes that disability is not inability and that as such, he said as human beings they are all the same. This, he said is the reason why the government provides funds for them like they did for the Olympic Games where the able athletes are.

As a Sports administrator, he told them that Sports development is not done in one day. He assured them that he will puts their case to the government on what he has observed while in Japan for the Games.

Such competition, he said is not about how many athletes we have but how they perform. He told them that he chose to only meet them at the stadium because he did not have the accreditation to visit them in the village.
