FREETOWN, Sep. 6 (232News) – As a means of closing the gap and bring their staff closer to the global village, the management of Atlantic Lumley Hotel (ALH) has empowered it staff with Information Technology (IT) training.

The training which will run for three weeks will make staff unleash the power of IT as it is better, faster and more efficient for doing things, and can make it happen.

The three weeks training which started in August at the hotel premises is expected to end this September and is done by one of Sierra Leone finest IT specialists.

Atlantic Lumley Hotel (ALH) General Manager, Sampson Fung said every year they look at the needs of the staff and come up with training for them. 

“We review our target every year and this year is for IT training”

He went on to say last year they look at other training such as customer’s service.

He added that they identified some operational issues that why they decided to bring IT training for the first time.

According to Sampson, the training is for staff improving and for them to catch up with the tread of technology and bring the world at their finger tip.

“Upon Constance engagement with our staff, we were able to identify their weak areas and address it. As management, we are concern about operation and delivery that is why we identified our problem and try to fix them.” 

He thanked the IT specialists for sharing his expertise to their staff.

Sampson Fung concluded by say upgrading in computer knowledge is very good for them and they might continue with the IT training next year for another group or come with new training base on their once a year review.

Alhaji Bangura attached to the Store Department expressed joy to undergo such training for the first time.

“I am very happy what the management has done for us, they have made us to get lot of experience with such training. “

Alhaji spoke about the difficulty he used to encounter when doing his work but said with such training it now a history.

Amina Rahman-Caree attached to the Finance Department commended the management for their close relationship with staff and for their quick responses to things that will make work easier.

Amina has an experience in IT but described the training as a refreshing one for her.

She said it has revamped her again and at the end of the training she will be fresher and ready to do her job effectively and efficiently.

Alhaji Bah of the House Keeping Department spoke about the in-depth of the training which he described as first of its kind for him.

He said he attempted to use computer for the first time in a unique way pointing out that lot of thing has now open up to him.

John Bangura Operations manager F&B Department said the management of the hotel gave them a unique opportunity for them to improve on their computer skills.

“Some of us have gone through similar training while others are doing it for the first time. We did not pay for it, they thought it fit that we should have such training because we are using computer every day having a clue about it is very vital.”

John expresses joy and gratefulness to the Management for giving them the opportunity to learn from one of the best IT person in the country.

“I am grateful for this and I want to thank the management for this. This will also help us to become more efficient in our field.”

John said they believed that what they have learnt will be put into practice for them not to forget again.
