Sierra Leone’s Senior Female Cricket national team

FREETOWN, Sep. 13 (232News) –Sierra Leone’s Senior Female Cricket national team will face the group leaders Namibia today in a must win match in Botswana. The female Patriot of Sierra Leone lost their first match against Nigeria by 5 wickets.

They are in group B with five teams which are Namibia, Uganda, Nigeria and Cameroun. In the above group, two teams are to qualify to the Semi-final stage.

Presently, Namibia female team is leading the group with 4 points in two matches played followed by Nigeria in second with 2 points in two matches played. Sierra Leone and Uganda are at the bottom of the group with no point after one match each. 

In today’s match, Sierra Leone need to beat the group leaders Namibia if they are to qualify to the Semi-final stage.  The last time the two teams met in Botswana but in a different tournament, Sierra Leone narrowly lost to Namibia.

In today’s match, the female Patriot have tagged it as a revenge match and a must win match for them. According to their head coach, Sarah Johnson their middle batting order fails in the opening match a reason she said they lost to Nigeria.

 She went on that they have put that sad moment at the back of their mind and they are now more determined to face Namibia and the remaining matches to win all. According to the fixtures Sierra Leone will face Uganda tomorrow 14 September in another must win match. On Wednesday 16 September, Sierra Leone will play their last group match against Cameroun in another must win match.
