FREETOWN, Sep 20 (SALONE TIMES) – The management of Freetown City Council FC has disclosed to the media that they are planning to take both Francis Zapa Koroma and the management of Kamboi Eagles to court for breach of contract.
In a press briefing, the Team manager of FCFC Simah Conteh told the media that few months back Francis Zapa Koroma signed 4 months with them to train the FCFC team.
Simah said he first met and discussed with Zapa verbally to be their head coach for four seasons. After he (Zapa) agreed, he said they signed an official agreement with an amount of Le10M and a monthly salary of Le2M per month with medical and transportation benefit.
He went on that Zapa started to train the team for some days and later abandoned the team. During that time, Simah said he called Zapa on several occasions but he did not answer the call. Also at that time, he said rumor was going on that Zapa want to join Kamboi Eagles FC but Zapa denied the allegation when he (Zapa)finally answered to their call.
Few days later, he said Francis wrote a letter of resignation to them which he did not sign. Simah said they returned the letter back to let him sign it for official purpose.
In the letter, Francis said the management of FCFC has failed to pay for players whom he had wanted to sign on loan for the club.
But Simah said the owners of the players were asking for Le3M of which the payment for loan premier league players is Le1M. He went on that they were ready to pay the amount for the players and that Zapa used the players issue as an excuse to breach the contract he had signed with them.
Later, Simah said they heard that Zapa has signed for Kamboi Eagles FC. He went on that they have complained the issue to the FA, WAFA and other authorities concern twice but no action has been taken on the matter.
In this case, they said they have decided to brief the press and their last resort will be to take the matter to court. In the agreement, the buyout clause was Le25M the amount to pay for any club that will like to sign him before the end of the four years contract. Simah said this is the amount Kamboi Eagles will pay first before they will go into any agreement for the coach. But in reaction to FCFC’s claim. Francis said the management of FCFC failed to pay him an extra amount of Le1M which they agreed on.
