FREETOWN, Oct. 12 (232News) –Teaching Service Commission has suspended 1,947 teachers across the country, says the director of teacher’s management at the Commission, Marian Abu.
She made this statement last Thursday October 7 at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room while the Commission was presenting their fiscal budget for 2022.
She explained that the reason for the suspension is because some of teachers abandoned their schools job, while other teachers went to National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) and NASSIT and gave different dates of birth, adding that, some of the teachers refused to go to schools they were transferred and as such, they were having problems with Pin- code Verification.
“If these suspended teachers did not return to the schools they are supposed to teach, the commission will replace them with other teachers,” Marian Abu asserted.
Chairman of the Commission, Conrad Sackey said when he took over the commission he had to review the whole process of the teaching service commission, noting that, they have been conducting training for teachers on how to do their work, and at the same time embarking on Pin-code verification.
That they have also been clearing the payroll of fake teachers for the actual teachers whose names should be in the payroll.
Sackey pointed out that the commission is asking for Le 6.2 billion for their budget for 2022.
