ASP Francis Foday Musa in action

FREETOWN, Oct. 28.  (232News) – The Sierra Leone Police as part of their disciplinary action has suspended indefinitely ASP Francis Foday Musa, the O/C Zimmi Police Station – Mano River Division.

ASP Musa suspension came as a result of a video which was circulating on social media allegedly assaulting an unarmed civilian.

The video that went viral brought sympathy for the said civilian and that led to a public outcry demining justice to prevail.

ASP Francis Foday Musa indefinite suspension paved the way for the Police Complaint, Discipline and Internal Investigation Department or CDIID to continue their investigation, as he can only return for work pending the outcome of the CDIID investigation.

In accordance with provisions 33 (1) and (2) of the Police discipline code 2001, ASP Francis Foday Musa was suspended indefinitely.

In the viral 30-second video, ASP Francis Foday Musa was allegedly seen not only physically assaulting and slapping an unarmed citizen, but also used abusive language in his state-owned uniform.

Many may argue that police officers who are supposed to protect and safeguard citizens and non-citizens are seen fighting and verbally abusing the same people they are supposed to protect.
