Ladies with vision presenting the items to NDMA DDG

FREETOWN, Nov. 15 (232news.com) – Ladies With Vision (LWV) a non-profit organization geared towards empowering and advocating for young women and girls in Sierra Leone led by its Founder and President, Madam Madiana Mensah-Gborie, accompanied by the Project Manager Safina Hashim, among others donated food and non-food items to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) as treatment of the surviving fuel tanker fire victims.

The devastating incident at Wellington on the 5th November, 2021 left many dead and some seriously injured, currently responding to treatment in different facilities within Freetown.

LWV Project Manager, Safina Hashim in her introductory remarks at NDMA headquarters at Aberdeen in Freetown extended their heartfelt condolence to those that lost their loved once in that incident.

She emphasised that the ugly situation touched LWV heart through that they decide to reach out to the victims and sympathised with them. 

LWV Founder and President, Madam Madiana Mensah-Gborie, said they consider NMDA as the hub for disaster in the country that is why they did not go to the hospitals to do any donation but through them and NDMA in turn will share it base on the need of that hospital.

She pointed out that LWV is very much overwhelmed by the situation and they are happy to be at NDMA.

She extended LWV readiness to support NDMA at any time they are called upon as that will help to build the teamwork spirit and unite Sierra Leone.

Deputy Director General, John V. Rogers thanked LWV for their timely support to the victims. He disclosed that they still have good numbers of victims in various hospitals, some he added got third degree burnt.

“This is the kind of issues we are managing. The good thing is that we were able to come together, unity to cob such. We are the hub and we are trying to make sure that we coordinating with others.”

Rogers disclosed that the Ministry of Health scale their level from one to two which means things are not normal.

“We really appreciate the fact that you are coming. We are looking at the situation and make sure we able to stabilized it. You felt and saw the need and sympathized we are very pleased that you came.”

He emphasized that every single donation will be captured by them and it will be used for its intended purpose as the little contribution goes a long way.
