FREETWON
– President of the Sports Writers Association in Sierra Leone Sahr Morris Jr. has reminded colleagues in Cameroun of their role. The association caters for four sports journalists to travel to Cameroon and cover the AFCON Tournament and give report more on the matches Leone Stars will be playing and other vital matches.
Among the four SWASAL members were Mohamed Abu Conteh from (CTN) Alusine Rehme Wilson from Makeni, Abu Bakarr Kanu Kalleon Radio and Sayoh Kamara (Sports World Newspaper). Among the four Rehme Wilson and Abu Bakarr Kanu were sponsored by the Sports Ministry, Mohamed Abu Conteh by the FA and Sayoh Kamara by the Africell Mobile Company SL Ltd.
Before their departure to Cameroon, Morris assured Africell Mobile Company and the entire nation that the presence of the Sports journalists in Cameroon will help to bring the tournament close to their door steps.
He went on that information on the AFCON competitions will be in the newspapers, TVs, Radios and all Sports social Media Fora.
While in Cameroon, the Sports Writers President appealed to his colleagues not to just concentrate on sending stories into their personal Facebook pages but to also help their colleagues with information at home who did not travel to Cameroon.
But according to them their greatest problem in doing their job was the internet facility where they are staying. To some it is due to the COVID restriction which is preventing them to go near the players and to reach the team Hotel in Duala.
But gradually they are now yielding to the appeal of the Sports Writers President. Apart from the above four members, there are also other Sports journalists in Cameroon from different media institutions.
