FREETOWN, Feb. 24 (232news.com) – The second rounds of the Sierra Leone Premier league kicked-off last Friday at the Siaka Stadium with the defending champions East End Lions battling with Central Parade.

The defending champions in second position with 33 points scored the opener goal in the 11th minute of the first half by their new signing Alie Kamara.

The defending champions maintained the 1-0 lead though under pressure from the Parade Boys onto the end of the first half.

 In the second half of the match, both teams do changes by bringing in fresh legs. The tempo of the match changed with Central Parade equalizing in the 69th minutes of the second half through their captain Kokofele with a volley out of the 18-yard box bringing the result to 1-1.

The result remains 1-1 onto the end of the match. Before the match, Lions was in second position with 33 points, 2 points behind the league leaders.

Central Parade in 3rd position with 30 points. In this case, a win for Lions would have taken them to the top position of the league table.

 At the end of the match, both teams maintained their positions in the league table with 34 and 31 points respectively. The league leaders Bo Rangers with 35 points engaged SL Police FC the other day but the result of the above match was not known onto press time.

 Lions did not only miss the chance of becoming the leaders but the players also missed a huge amount of bonus that the team officers kept aside for winning.

 The second rounds continued last Saturday at three venues. In Freetown at the Siaka Sreven Stadium Police hosted the league leaders, in Port Loko Bai Bureh Warriors hosted RSLAF FC.

On Sunday, the second rounds matches were played at six venues with Ports Authority hosting SLIFA FC at the Approved School field, Wellington, Kamboi Eagles hosted Anti=Drugs FC in Kenema, FCFC hosted Blackpool at the Attouga Mini stadium in Clinetown, Freetown, Wusum Stars hosted East End Tigers in Makeni, In Kono , Diamond Stars hosted FC Kallon and at the Siaka Steven Stadium Old Edwardians hosted FC Johansen. The league will continue on Wednesday with Ports Authority hosting Kamboi Eagles at the Attouga mini stadium in Freetown. On the same day FC Johansen will host RSLAF FC at the Wusum field in Makeni.
