Sierra Leone Minister of Sport

FREETOWN, Mar. 30 (SALONE TIMES) – The Ministry of Sports retreat for staff and Sports organizations in Sierra Leone that was held in Makeni ended on Saturday. The retreat started on the 7th – 12th March 2022 at the D&S Resort in Makeni. According to the Ministry the above retreat was organized to bring the Sports family and the staff of Ministry of Sports together to understand the way forward on how to develop sports in the country. According to media official of the Ministry, Dalton Shyllon few sporting association members attended and talked on their own constrains and how to develop the various sports. The retreat was also geared to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the Ministry and the various sports. Most of the Sports family members who attended the retreat said the seminar was timely as there were several issues which they had wanted to discuss face to face with the Sports Minister Ibrahim Nylenkeh. The Sports Minister Nyelenkeh told them that he is in charge of Sports but said to develop sports it will be a collaborative work with all sports members. He thank them for living their busy schedule to attend the retreat and assure them that he will bring up all their concerns during cabinet meeting. He though called on them to go out and cater for sponsors as government alone will not fund all the various sporting disciplines together. The Chairman of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association Francis Samura commended the Sports Ministry for the retreat as it enabled them to meet with each other and share ideas on how to develop sports. Francis appealed to the various sports members to form a forum for easy communication among each other. Francis said in terms of fitness they will need Athletics association and Weightlifting association. Samura also called on all to work with the theme of the Retreat 2022 which is Strengthening Sports Governance for Development and Peace. To the Sports Ministry he said the retreat should be a yearly event and at various venues.
