FREETOWN, Apr. 11 (232news.com) – A Sierra Leonean, Doctor of Pharmacy, a specialist Pharmacist, and Chief Executive Officer of CitiGlobe Pharmacies Ltd, Manal Ghazzawi has discovered her artistic talent.
Dr Manal Ghazzawi who is also the founder/CEO of KnowHep Foundation Sierra Leone, a member of World Hepatitis Alliance, geared towards elimination of viral hepatitis in Sierra Leone for the second time participated in the Barray Fear-Town, a group exhibition of contemporary Sierra Leonean Fine Art which took place Last Thursday 7th April, at Toma, Cape Road, Aberdeen
The Private viewing featured Barray Artists such as Sheka Kallon, Mustapha Marray-Conteh, Julius Parker, Manal Ghazzawi, Hafsatu Nirvana, Felix Phodes, Hawa Jane, Alpha Abdul Aziz and Zahraah Hussein. Guest artists: Hickmatu Leigh, Babatunde Morgan, Khaled Badiri and Kosonike Koso-Thomas.
Dr Manal Ghazzawi who never painted in her life due to other engagements started painting in April 2021. She said her father is her inspiration
She said her father always telling her to draw because he loves drawing and he is good at it.
Dr Manal Ghazzawi did a painting on Guitar heads, life is complicated, 2 faced, protection against the evil eye, Subhan Allah and in the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful.
“Painting is a talent my father discovered in me when I was a child. April 1 2021, I joined the Artists Union and in 2021 I stated painting after I left COMAHS”.
Dr Manal Ghazzawi said it is very tiring to draw but she loves doing it. Dr Manal like to merge faces together and also love doing calligraphy.
She said when one writes Arabic all by itself is art.
She explained one of her art “Subhan Allah, the Arabic root word Subhan means a sense of swimming or being immersed in something. A wider view of the meaning of Subhanallah is a powerful metaphor that portrays Allah as a vast ocean. It is a way to glorify or praise God, or that Allah is perfect, Glory be to God’ or how free of any imperfection is Allah, may he be exalted.”
Dr Manal Ghazzawi believed everybody has hidden talent which they have to discover.
“Everybody has hidden talent, we have to discover our talent and it also good to follow your passion to see what you like to do.”
She advised parents to allow their children to do what they like for them to discover their talents.
“All my life I have been studying. Art work is inspiring and motivating. I am honoured to have people who are amazing artists in Sierra Leone that like my work, it makes me happy.”
She commended the organiser for such exhibition as they are the first to do such exhibition for artists.
She disclosed that all funds collected from sales of her paintings, will be dedicated to free screening of marginalized communities for hepatitis B and vaccination of newly born babies.
