FREETOWN, May 20 (232news.com) – One of Sierra Leone’s prestigious hotels, Atlantic Lumley Hotel has donated learning materials to pupils and teachers of Aberdeen Municipal School.
The donated items were presented to the school on Friday 13th May, 2022 at the school grounds at Aberdeen, Freetown.
Atlantic Lumley Hotel, Human Resource Manager, Lonnel Saied Kargbo while presenting the items to the school authorities, thanked them for hosting them and receiving their donation.
He said this is not the first time the Hotel is donating to the school as they do such in 2018 when the school and the surrounding schools received hundreds of school bags for the kids.
The donation does not only stop with the pupils but also the teachers as they received lot of stationeries.
A standby sharpener for the pupils were presented to the teachers and three sets of First Aid boxes for the school.
Atlantic Lumley Hotel (ALH) General Manager, Sampson Fung said as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, ALH donated 50 bags of cements and quantum of sand in the ongoing construction of the Aberdeen Municipal School.
The construction of eight classrooms storey building, fencing, pavement, and renovation of other dilapidated structures within the Aberdeen Municipal School premise is undertaken by Hon. Mohamed Sheriff Rahman-Coker of Constituency 131.
Sampson Fung disclosed that some of the donated items include pencils, pens, paper clips, books among others targeting 800 pupils.
“We have been doing this as part of our CSR and for us to support the mission of President Julius Maada Bio free quality education drive.”
He disclosed that it is something the hotel is doing annually and it is getting bigger every year.
Chocolates and water were added to the gift for the kids to enjoy themselves the more.
Mrs. Henrietta S. Gembeh Head Teacher Infant said this is not the first time they have received gifts from the Hotel which means they have love and interest for the school and the kids.
She told the children that to show their appreciation to the Hotel, they have to make good use of the items.
She thanked management and staff of the hotel for the gestures and said they will ever remain to appreciate them.
She also appealed to the hotel or any other well-wishers to support them with the rehabilitation of the school.
“We don’t only need painting but the chairs and tables are not sufficient for us too. If the learning atmosphere is conducive for the children, they will learn. We appreciate and acknowledge the hotel. Please have us in mind.”
Manso Samura, Principal, Aberdeen Municipal School JSS said they have a lot of hotels and organisations in the Aberdeen community but Atlantic Lumley Hotel have donated to them which means they are add hear to their CSR.

Management as well as staff were so pleased to interact with the school authority and the kids as they sipped their water and munched their chocolates.
