RCBank MD Visit

FREETOWN, June 3 (SALONE TIMES) – His hard work to let the Rokel Commercial Bank in Sierra Leone be one of the best banks in Africa is being felt not only by their customers in Sierra Leone and abroad but also by non-customers.

This was made manifest at the Krootown Road market on Thursday when the MD Dr. Ekundayo Gilpin decided to visit one of their customers and a friend Alhaji Komba who was ill and taking medication at home. Komba is also the Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Boxing Association which also banks with the Rokel Commercial Bank.

Gilpin who always reechoes to his staff that the customers of the bank should be their No1 priority decided to visit on of their vital customers Alhaji Komba at his house few yards from the Krootown Road market. No sooner had he descended his car then he was thronged by 100s of market women in and around the market. The women spread clothes and some head ties on the floor for him to walk on while going down. They sang songs of praises about his good work at the bank with some praying for God’s guidance and protection in his office.

Majority of the women are banking with the bank while some say they admire the speedy developmental strides the bank had made since Gilpin took over as the MD. They appealed to him to help them get loans from the bank to develop their business.

When he got to Alhaji Komba, Gilpin told him that he was surprise to see the large turnout as it was an unscheduled visit. He promised that when he got back to his office he said he will discuss with management to see how they could help the market women and the communities in that area.

Komba thanked the MD for his visit and assured him that he will do his own little best to let the Rokel Commercial Bank be the No1 bank at the Krootown Road community and its neighboring communities.

Komba thanked the women for showing appreciation to the hard working Managing Director. He told them that the Rokel Commercial Bank is their bank and the only reliable bank to bank with in Sierra Leone.
