FREETOWN, June 13 (232news.com) –The Embassy of the Republic of China in Sierra Leone held this year’s third China-Sierra Leone Information Salon on Wednesday 8th June 2022 at the China Friendship House in Freetown.
It is a medium to discuss China’s development and its role on the international scene, exchange ideas on issues of common interest, and promote friendship between the two countries.
Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Hu Zhangliang, in his keynote address said the world economic recovery is faced with challenges and the implementation of the Strategic Development Goals is also faced with extreme challenges.
He called for the strengthening of cooperation, mutual respect, and common development to achieve success across the world.
“China is committed to world peace, common development for a brighter future,” he said, adding that; the international community should uphold the international system with international laws to achieve international peace and development.
“Effort should be made in building a community of shared future for mankind,” he said, noting that; vigorous effort should be made to continue upholding the China-Sierra Leone friendship and give no room for fake news to derail the relationship between the two countries.
Ambassador Hu said China and Sierra Leone will continue to be reliable partners and promote the rule of law on the global scene and ensure a win-win situation.
Hon. Hindolo Moiwo Gevao, Chairman of Sierra Leone China Friendship Society, assured that they stand by China in promoting development and peace.
Chairman of Sierra Leone China Friendship Association, Miss Onike King, pledged their support towards the cooperation between the two countries.
“We are now taking the Chinese language to schools and communities in Sierra Leone. This is taking China to especially young people. We are building up the future of young people by enabling them to learn the Chinese culture and language,” she remarked and continued that “We are committed to taking china to every doorstep of Sierra Leone,” she said.
President of Sierra Leone China Foundation, Mohamed Kamara, revealed that some people and countries have portrayed China wrongly but failed to see the massive Development China is taking to communities and countries across the globe. “What China has done for the world is enormous, therefore, China must ensure that it makes it true story of its development to the world,” he said.
President of the Sino-Sierra Leone Alumni Association, Alhaji Javombo, noted that they have positioned their organization in promoting China Sierra Leone relations and have supported Sierra Leoneans going to do business in China. He assured the meeting that they are always willing to tell good stories about China.
