FREETOWN, July 13 (232news.com) – “Disciplined Leadership for Development Na Salone” were the words of Major Rtd. Alfred Palo Conteh as he declared his intention to run for the flag bearer of the All People’s Congress Party (APC).
In a flamboyant event that took place on the 2nd June 2022 at the APC party Headquarters at Brookfields Freetown witnessed by thousands of APC supporters, Major Rtd Alfred Palo Conteh stated that his first task is to unify the APC party and the country from its present state of tribal division which he said is not good for any country that wants to develop. He further stated that it was a blessing for him to serve former President Ernest Bai Koroma for 10 years and as the first Minister of Defence, Minister of Internal Affairs and was assigned to help in the fight against Ebola.
Before his declaration, Palo took blessing from his former boss President Ernest Bai Koroma and expressed his wish to take the country from where former President Koroma left it in terms of development. With discipline as a watchword Sierra Leone will do well he stated.
He furthermore condemned the infighting against each other because they belong to different camps, instead they should campaign to each other to join their camp and at the end of the election whosoever God destined to be the flag bearer they should embrace themselves for the betterment of the party. Major (Rtd) Palo Conteh stated that his candidature is not “Paopa” (win at all cost). If it is the will of God that is he going to be the next flag bearer good, but if not he Major (Rtd) Alfred Palo Conteh will embrace whosoever is being destined by God to carry the party to state house he stated.
He said that elections are round the corner therefore he appealed to the security sector to perform their constitutional duty.
He stated that he has no space to keep grudge in his heart as stated in Roman’s 12:19 that says “beloved avenge not yourselves, but rather give place onto wrath for it is written Vengeance is mine I repay saith the Lord”.
He encouraged all of them to work as a team for the betterment of the party and the country at large
“As I aspire for the flag bearer of the APC, my dream is to see a United Sierra Leone and equal opportunity for all.
In everything we do we must put Sierra Leone first”.
He further stated that it was the second day of July 2022 he is declaring for the position of the flag bearer of the All People’s Congress Party.
