FREETOWN, July 25 (SALONE TIMES) – The new Team Manager of the Sierra Leone female U-19 Cricket Team, Beresford Bournes-Coker told the players to be mindful of three key words necessary for competitions.

These words, he said are Attitude, Skills and Knowledge which are very paramount for a good player and a team.

Bournes-Coker addressed the ladies at the POW Ovals just after their two T20 friendly matches with the U-13 Boys. The ladies won one match and loss the last match to the young boys.

He told the ladies that the results were not bad as they played against a male team, encouraging them, that they can do more with good attitude, skills and knowledge.

Bournes emphasized that a team should have players with good attitude as discipline is very paramount for all sports.

“You should play with skill and use your knowledge to wind matches,” said Bournes-Coker.

Cricket, he said is a team sport and as such they need to be united during matches and learn to correct each and others mistake.

He also told them to play with confidence and be focus against any team they will be facing, noting that they should go by the advises of the coach.

In the tournament, Sierra Leone will be in group B with the host country Botswana, Uganda and Namibia. Two teams will qualify from each group for the semi-final stage. The tournament will kick-off on the 1st September and ends on the 13th September 2022.

In this case, Bournes-Coker said they have just one month now to the kick-off of the tournament but as it is a raining season, he advised them to make use of any good weather but warned them to be careful for injury while training or even during the tournament.
