Afrimoney and Powergen partnership

FREETOWN, July 25 (232news.com) – In their continuous drive to ensure that subscribers stay in their comfort zone to do their transaction, Afrimoney a subscridary to Africell Mobile company has signed partnership with PowerGen for easy transaction.

On Friday 22nd July 2022, at Africell headquarters in Freetown, the partnership was launched in the presence of the Press.

Nancy L Toure, Africell Assistant Media Manager, disclosed the faster rate Afrimoney is moving and said all they are doing is to ensure lives becomes easy, comfortable and reliable for Afrimoney users.

She stated that they are moving from one stage to the other, because as long as one is using Afrimoney it become more convenience for that person.

“Come rain, come shine, life should be easier and comfortable with Afrimoney”.

Nancy disclosed further that for one to access PowerGen they have to dial *161*2# and PowerGen will appear which will lead them to the section where they can enter their Meter Numbers and the amount the person wants to buy. Just after that process, that individual will automatically get light on his system.

Nancy allayed the fears of Afrimoney subscribers by saying they will ensure that the system is always on and run 24/7 as Afrimoney is here to make life easy.

PowerGen Country Manager, Hassan Suma thanked Afrimoney for partnering with them.

He disclosed that PowerGen a public private partnership started in 2018 as a renewable energy company that is task with the responsibility to manage Upgrade Power in Sierra Leone.

Hassan maintained that Upgrade Power in Sierra Leone is one of the delivery operator and developer that actually operates under the Rural Renewable Energy project.

He said PowerGen have been able to install and provide electricity to thirty-seven thousand communities, and over nine thousand two hundred households have been connected.

Hassan pointed out that the collaboration with Afrimoney will not end and that it is something that will continue. He spoke about the twenty years contract they have with the government of Sierra Leone.

“PowerGen Renewable Energy and Afrimoney will go into each community and try to tell the people what it means and explain to them about PowerGen, and ensure that they are able to buy power as easy as they can.”

He explained that they should have metering system, and they should have their Meter Number and registered with the metering System. He stated that their meter is hundred percent guaranteed and it a smart meter.

The Director of Afrimoney, Martison Obeng-Agyei spoke about the important of power.

He maintained that mobile phone users will increase in Sierra Leone to 6.9% shortly and the penetration of electricity will increase to 23%.

He said there will be a lot of development in the rural areas, where access to mobile phones and electricity is of necessity to enable them better their lives.

He stated that it will be critically important that they were able to get power to the people, so that they can be able to have access to mobile technology that can expose them to their wealth and better their lives.

He noted that, the partnership is not about Afrimoney and PowerGen but about empowering and better the lives of the people of Sierra Leone and all the districts that PowerGen covers.
