The technical team for the Sierra Leone U-19 national Cricket team on Thursday announced the final names of 14 players for the U-19 Division 2 qualifier in Abuja-Nigeria.  The team will depart Sierra Leone on Wednesday 28th September 2022 and will arrive in Abuja-Nigeria on the same day.

According to the fixtures, the tournament will kick-off on Friday 30th September 2022. On the opening day of the tournament, Sierra Leone will host Botswana at the Abuja pitch1 and at the pitch 2 the host country will host Rwanda.

But before the kick-off Thursday it will be a practice day for the participating teams by schedule, Captains shoot, press conference and Team briefing. In the tournament, Sierra Leone falls in Group B together with the host country Nigeria, Botswana and Rwanda. In group A, are Kenya, Malawi, Ghana and Mozambique.

On the second day, it will be a battle in group A as Kenya will host Ghana at Pitch 1 and Malawi will host Mozambique at pitch 2.

The format of the tournament will be 50 overs in which 2 teams will qualify from each group for the semi-final stage. Sierra Leone will take on Rwanda at pitch 2 and will play their last group stage match against the host country Nigeria on the 4th October 2022. The teams will rest on Thursday 6th October 2022. The Semi-final stage will kick-off on the next day Friday with leader in group A taking on the runner-up in group B at pitch 1 while at pitch 2 the runner-up in group B will battle with the leader in group A. On Saturday 8th October the final match of the tournament will take place at pitch 1 and the third place match will at pitch 2. According to the tournament format the two finalists will automatically qualify for the division1 U-19 Africa World Cup qualifier tournament.
