Football fans at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium who bought tickets to watch the match between FCFC Vs FC Kallon last Friday 20th January ended up requesting their monies when the referees in charge failed to officiate the match.
According to reliable sources, there was a press release from the Referees Association before the time for the match that they will not officiate any FC Kallon match both the male and the female teams until the FA looks into Mohamed Kallon’s post on Facebook about one of the referees.
On Facebook, Mohamed posted that one of the referees told him that even if he holds PHD in coaching, he will never win a match he is officiating.
The post, according to the referees, did not go down well with them as such they complained to the FA but they say there was no reaction from the FA on the matter.
Even with the press release, other sources said the referees for the match went to the field to warm up and later decided otherwise.
Fans who paid to watch the match wait for some time before they went to the gate to request their monies but found no one to refund their monies.
Apart from the fans, the two teams were shocked by the behavior of the referees as they said they only know about the press release when the incident happened.
The two teams claimed that they spent a lot to prepare for the match and would like the FA to refund the monies they have spent to prepare for the match.
In response, the FA in a press statement condemned the boycott action taken by the referees and apologized to fans who paid to watch the match at the Attouga field, Clinetown in Freetown.
In the FA’s press release, they also assured football members that they will do a thorough investigation into the matter and will punish anyone found wanting.
Apart from Kallon’s facebook post, there is also another issue between the referees and Kallon in which a female referee Zainab claimed that Kallon slapped her during one of the female league matches at Police field, Kingtom.
But the female league disciplinary committee released a press release that they have taken action against Kallon for the act. But even with that, another source claimed that the accused Zainab has made a fresh report against Mohamed Kallon in one of the Police stations in Freetown.
The fear now is that if the FA and the PLB fail to act quickly on the above matter, all premier league, matches against FC Kallon will come to a standstill.
Besides, referees will not be comfortable officiating matches that will be taking place at the FC Kallon home ground in Angola town for fear of attack.
