Prince Sualley Receiving The Trophy

The Sierra Leone Volleyball Association on the 1st February 2023 presented the Zone 2 female champion trophy and medals to the executive of the National Olympic Committee. In Guinea Bissau the female Beach Volleyball national team won the champion trophy and gold medals when they defeated the Gambia female team in the final match. The senior male team after defeating the Sierra Leone U-19 team in the quarter-final match lost the semi-final match but went on to defeat Senegal in the 3rd place match to clinch the bronze medals. The team travel by road for 4 days to Guinea Bissau with 12 man delegation. Among the 12 man delegation were four set of teams 2 male (U-19 and senior team) and 2 female teams. Besides the teams were the Technical Director Sorie Kamara, one referee, one media man and an executive officer from the South who lead the delegation. According to Ahmed Khanu the president of the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association they decided to travel with the junior teams to expose them for future tournaments. The Volleyball president told the NOC executive that they knock at several doors for funds including the government but there was no way. He went on that instead they used money meant to train coaches so that they will not miss the tournament. A reason he said they travel by road with little allowances for the delegation. At the end he said the players put aside the love for money behind and put Sierra Leone first and use the ‘can do spirit’ to win the laurels they are presenting. The association dressed the NOC executive with the medals and present the trophy to the NOC President Prince Sualley. The NOC President thank the teams for the sacrifice they made to win the laurels for the country with little they have. He assure them that NOC will do their little best to help upgrade the players for upcoming tournaments. He went on that Volleyball is one of the sports that they are thinking about highly to help. Prince Sualley encouraged the players not to relent and that they should continue with the good work. At the end the executive in return officially dressed the players with the medals.
