The Speaker of Parliament Dr. Abass Bundu said that Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have written a letter to parliament concerning the Public Election Act which states that for every nomination they must include women.

Dr. Bundu stated that they are not in charge of any nominations and that the civil Society Organizations should write the letters to political parties because their role as parliament is to make laws and not to interpret them.

According to him, the onus is not with parliament but with political political parties to include female in every nominations.

He pointed out that for him he wants to see lots of women in the sixth parliament.

Hon Mathew Nyuma said the if they fail to go with the provision there is penalty given also article 57,58 and 59 of the political parties regulation Commission, noting that the CSOs must write to political parties and not them.
