The Nigeria Cricket Federation T20 Invite International Tournament will continue today Wednesday 29th March at the Tafawa Belewa Square in Lagos with Rwanda hosting Sierra Leone.
This is the second time the two are meeting in this same competition. In their first meeting last year, Sierra Leone lost to Rwanda who ended up winning the tournament.
The defending champions on the first day of the tournament defeated Ghana by 117 runs in the second match of the tournament.
Sierra Leone will use the winning spirit against Ghana yesterday to battle with Rwanda today. In the second match today, Cameroon will host Ghana in the afternoon.
In that match, Cameroon and Ghana will be looking for their first victory in the tournament. In the opening match, Sierra Leone lost to the host country Nigeria by 6 wicket after tough battle between the two arch rivals.
On the second day of the tournament, the host country Nigeria battle with the newcomers Cameroon in the morning. Nigeria won the match by 7 wickets.
In the afternoon, Sierra Leone defeated Ghana in a West Africa derby match by 7 wickets. Both teams were looking for their first winning having lost their first matches played on the opening day.
Alice Fillie won the Woman of the match awards. Ghana have now lost two matches played in the tournament. The defending champions Rwanda will get a rest day today and tomorrow which will be a rest day for all the participating teams.
On Thursday, the rest day for all the teams, the executive of the Nigeria Cricket Federation will tour with the teams to the Landmark beach in Lagos and to the shopping Malls in Lagos to do their shopping.
The Sierra Leone female national team will also rest on Friday to take on Cameroon on Saturday. On the same Saturday, Nigeria will battle for supremacy against Rwanda of which the winner of that match likely to be the winner of the tournament.
In last year’s tournament, Nigeria defeated Rwanda in the group stage but lost to them in the final match.
On Sunday morning the teams in the 3rd and 4th position will battle for the 3rd place trophy and bronze medals. In the afternoon the top two with the highest points will battle in the final match for the champion and the runner up trophy.
