The league leaders in the Sierra Leone Cricket Association T20 Men’s premier league, Mid-West, have won all four matches played in the league. In their last match they defeated the defending champions SL Police CC by 5 wickets on Saturday at the POW Ovals at Kingtom in Freetown. The Police team batted first scoring 74 runs all out in 17.0 overs. The league leaders replied with 75 runs loss of 5 wickets in 14.5 overs. In batting Alusine Turay a U-19 player for Mid-West led the scores with 26 runs off 8 balls. He hit 3, four runs and 2, six runs with a run rate of 325.00. In second, the captain for Mid-West George Ngegba, an open batsman, scored 22 runs off 28 balls with a run rate of 91.67. Edward Marah an all-rounder for Police scored 20 runs off 15 balls with a run rate of 133.33. In the bowling, Sulaiman Tarawalie for Police took 2 wickets in 4 overs (1 maiden) and conceived 7 runs with an economy of1.75, Samuel Conteh took 2 wickets in 3.0 overs and conceived 8 runs with an economy of 2.67.
The newcomers in the league, Special Line, with young and talented players, currently second, have become a hard nut to crack in the league. Cricket analysts have said Mid-West needs to defeat Special Line if they are to win the league. Both teams have younger players but Mid-West have more experienced players with Special Line having very determined young players. Special Line came into the Premier League as champions of the Division 1 league.
The CEO of Special Line Philip Sam has repeatedly reechoed to the league leaders and the other clubs that they have come to set a new record in the premier league being the first new promoted club to win the league.
