The 2nd edition of President Bio’s Trophy kick start on Sunday 20 August at the Parade field with the defending champions Krootown Rangers (KTR) taking on Bambra Tong in the opening match.
In the match both teams were studded with top premier league players. Bambra Tong scored the only goal in the match through Ibrahim Kamara aka Rashford in the 38 minutes of the first half.
They maintain the 1-0 result onto the end of the first half. Both teams came back into the second half bringing in new substitutes to beef up the team.
But the changes did not change the results as Bambra Tong held onto the 1-0 lead onto the end of the full time.
After the match, the head coach of KTR Yellow Man assured the fans that it is not over yet as they still have chance to qualify to the group of 16.
He went on that they are going to embark on playing friendly matches and try to correct the mistakes they made before their next games.
KTR will play their next match in the league against Soja Tong on the 5th September 2023 at the Parade field.
This match will be a must win match for KTR if they are to qualify to the next stage.
Apart from Soja Tong they have tom play against Angola Tong and Hill Station.
Two teams will qualify from each group and the Rangers are still confident that they will top the group despite losing their first match.
On the side of Bambra Tong the head coach said they are now thinking about their next match Against Angola Tong.
He boasted that they have crushed the tough team in the group but say they will not relent as they will take all matches serious.
In tomorrow’s match Summer City will take on Lumley in a very tough encounter at the Parade field in Freetown.
According to the Team Manager of Summer City, Manager Bah they are coming into the league this year with more of young players and few top stars.
