The Board and Executive Members of Cricket Sierra Leone Company on Wednesday October 18 2023 received cricket equipment worth over 15,000 Pound Sterling  from John Mason at their secretariat in Kingtom, Freetown.

The donated items were pads, helmets, wicket-keeping gloves, cricket playing shoes, coaching kit bags to training gears and clothing.

Handing over the items to the board Chairman Francis Samura, John said his dad was a dedicated cricket player who played the game for his school and country and up to West African level. He went on that he was told that his dad took him to watch his first cricket match when he was six months old. John played normal cricket until at his old age as such he said the game is in his blood.

He furthered stated that the donation is part of his effort to support the growth of cricket and a give back to the game he loves so much.

Receiving the donated items, the Board Chairman of Cricket Sierra Leone, Francis Trevor Samura, said the donation is a massive boost to grassroots cricket development, high performance cricket, and domestic cricket programs.

Francis remarked that the donated items will contribute to the ICC scorecard when it comes to non-ICC income, which amounts to 20 percent. In this case he said they therefore appreciate the kind gesture and are encouraging other Sierra Leoneans and development partners home and abroad to follow the footstep John Mason or do more than in diverse way. This he said can either be financial contribution or construction materials to help construct their proposed Ultra-modern ovals,

The above he said is the second donation the Company has received within eight months’ time. The first one was from the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in March this year from the Lord’s Cricket in England.
