The Anglican Diocesan Men’s Union (DMU) on Saturday 14th October, 2023 defeated their Methodist counterparts in a friendly match marking the 25th anniversary of the DMU.  The friendly football match was played at the Albert Academy, school compound. Both teams contested for a trophy named Charles E.B. Williams Trophy after the Late Charles Williams formerly of St. John’s the Evangelist Church Brookfields who once served as President of the DMU.   The trophy was donated by the outgoing President of the Union Bro Gerald J. W. Perry.

The match started with an opening remarks by both Presidents of the DMU and West Africa Methodist Men’s Union (WAMMO) respectively.

The DMU, Erstwhile President, Bro. Gerald Perry opened the match with a symbolical Kick off.

The match official, who officiated the match was, Mr. Fofanah, Senior Head of Department PE, Albert Academy School.

In the 8th minutes of the match, Mr. Alie Mansaray for WAMMO, grabbed the first goal of the match, as an attacking Midfielder. 22 Minutes later, DMU, goal Stopper Patrick Decker took a goal kick, which resulted in an equalizer. Despite several attacks made in the first half by both teams the match ended in a 1 -1 stalemate. The 2nd half started with several substitutions but the match still remained 1-1.  That led to post match penalties of which DMU won that nail biting encounter.

About 350 church and non-church members spectated the match.  Vote of thanks was done by the IPP.

Presentation of Trophy, was done by the WAMMO President, to the DMU captain, Mr. Cyril Wells.
