Philanthropist and Executive Director of Pikin Bizness Adonis Abboud has presented awards to the best male and female graduating students of the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology in the Northern Sierra Leone. The presentation was made on Saturday 20th January 2024 at the 5th Congregation ceremony for the conferment of degrees and award of diplomas and certificates at the E. J. J. Momoh Pavilion, Magburaka Campus. Adonis, on behalf of the Adonis Abboud Trust Fund, had made it a tradition to attend these ceremonies, not only as a gesture of support but also to personally present donations to the best graduating students. The AATF focuses on education and community development. They were there at the Ernest Bai Koroma University to recognize and award graduates who excelled in the past academic year.
As the ceremony unfolded, Adonis took to the stage, his presence commanding the attention of the entire auditorium. With a warm smile, he congratulated the graduating class on their remarkable achievements and made the significant award.
Then, it was time for the moment everyone had been waiting for—the presentation of the awards. Adonis stepped forward. He began by announcing the recipient of the Best Male Graduating Student award, Mr. Amadu Sesay eliciting cheers and applause from the audience.
But it was the next announcement that truly captivated the crowd. With a sense of reverence, Adonis revealed that the recipient of the Best Female Graduating Student award was none other than a young woman named Adama Esther Conteh, who was blind. AATF decided to surprise her in addition to the usual trophy and cash prize, a talking a talking watch which she was excited to receive.
The auditorium erupted into thunderous applause as Adama made her way to the stage, guided by the gentle hands of her classmates. With tears of joy streaming down her face, she accepted the award, her unwavering determination and resilience serving as an inspiration to all who witnessed her remarkable achievement.
For Adonis, this moment was the culmination of years of dedication to supporting education and empowering young minds
As the ceremony drew to a close, Adonis reflected on the impact of his contributions to colleges throughout the country. While the number of degrees conferred may have been impressive, it was the individual stories of triumph and perseverance, like Adama’s, that reminded him of the true power of philanthropy and the profound difference it could make in the lives of others.
With renewed determination, Adonis vowed to continue his mission of supporting education and empowering the next generation of leaders, knowing that with each donation, he was helping to build a brighter and more promising future for all.
