Gender Specialist, Dr. Willette P.R.O James has expressed readiness to lead the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation for transformation and effective service delivery to the people.
In a letter dated 24th April, 2024 addressed to Madam Willette P.R. O. James by the Secretary to the President, Julius F. Sandy indicated that he has the honour to inform her that in accordance with Section 3 (2) of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation Act, 2010, it has pleased His Excellency the President, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio to appoint her as Chairman, Board of Trustees, Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation, subject to the approval of Parliament.
In a telephone conversation with Salone Times, Dr. James expressed gratitude for the opportunity, “I am honoured to accept this appointment and look forward to contributing to the growth and development of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation,” she said.
Once confirmed, Dr James will undertake the responsibility of overseeing the operations of the SLBC Board of Trustees, with details of the appointment terms and conditions to follow.
With a wealth of experience and dedication to professionalism as Journalist, Dr. James’s appointment underscores the government’s commitment to merit-based appointments. Her extensive background, including previous service on the SLBC Board, equips her to navigate the challenges being faced by the national broadcaster.
Addressing the pressing needs of SLBC, Dr. James affirmed her commitment to effective governance, collaboration with stakeholders, and advancing the Corporation’s mandates to inform, educate, and entertain the nation.
“I am deeply committed to ensuring that SLBC realizes its full potential as a national broadcaster,” Dr. James asserted, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in achieving this vision.
Dr. Williette P.R. O. James who also double as one of the Pastors at the Word of Faith Outreach Ministry’, Freetown, Sierra Leone, is a Gospel singer. She is married and blessed with three children. She is also a lecturer at the Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone at the Faculty of Communications, Information and Media Studies.
