Freetown City FC management has formally complained to the Football Association about the referee’s conduct during their match against Wilberforce Strikers, the last in the Leone Rock Premier League. The match, held at the SLFA Academy field on June 29, 2024, was halted abruptly after a contentious penalty was awarded against FCFC while they were leading 1-0.

FCFC fans protested the penalty decision, leading to the match’s premature end. The management accused the referee of bias and reluctance to continue the match despite pleas from the match commissioner and the fourth official. They noted that even when offered to switch roles, the referee refused. Adding to their grievances, the referee also issued a red card to FCFC captain Abdul Karim Turay.

FCFC has submitted a letter and video evidence to the FA, seeking a fair ruling on the penalty’s legitimacy and the withdrawal of Turay’s red card. They warned that they would pursue all available avenues for redress if their requests are not met.
