On 30th June Wilberforce Strikers engaged Freetown City Council Football Club at the SLFA Academy field. The above match came to an abrupt end in the 52nd minutes of the match while FCFC where leading 1-0.

In the match, FCFC defender and the goalkeeper collided with Wilberforce striker in the 18th yard box which prompted the match referee to award penalty kick in favor of Wilberforce Strikers.

The report went on that the captain of FCFC Abdul K Turay rushed to the referee and head-but him.

Sources also claimed that another player for FCFC Aruna Kamara verbally accused and slapped the referee.

According to committee release, the officials of FCFC also rushed into the field. After reviewing the referee’s report and the match commissioner’s report, the committee resulted to award 3 points and 2 goals to Wilberforce Strikers FC.

The committee went on to fine both Abdul K Turay and Aruna Kamara Two Thousand Leones (NLE 2,000) each and were suspended for 3 matches respectively.

The fines must be paid within one week after the release of the decision. The committee also fined the Head coach Alusine B Kargbo, his Assistance Mohamed S Kamara, team Doctor Mohamed Bockarie, and management representative Three Thousand Leones each.

Failure to pay the above fines, the committee said will result to an additional sanction. The Management of FCFC have appealed against the committee’s decision saying they were bias.

According to them, they did not stop match though they said the penalty kick was not genuine. They went on that, they later agreed for the penalty kick to be taking but the referee they said vehemently refused to let the match continue.

The Management of FCFC said they have strong video clip evidence to back up their appeal, noting that if the appeal committee failed to judge fairly, they will have no option but to take the matter to the court of arbitration.

A staff of the Council told SALONE TIMES Sports that they have all evidence to expose the bad practices in this present premier league board.
