FREETOWN – A Danish based NGO Football For A New Tomorrow FANT SL has said they are embarking on 3 in one project to help the government in the fight against Coronavirus.
According to the Project Manager Mamadu Bah, when the Coronavirus outbreak hit Sierra Leone, they wrote a proposal project to the Danish Emergency Relief Fund in Denmark to fund them to be part of the fight.
Mamadu said they are using the fund to engage in three in one projects. He went on that the first thing they did was to identify 200 vulnerable children under the age of 10-14 years both boys and girls in each community of ten communities which amounts to 2,000 children.
To cater for these children, they have donated 8 bags of rice, one bag of onions, sets of Veronica buckets and a Catton of assaulted Maggi cubes to each community.
They have also planned to use part of the fund to take care of the health of the 2,000 children. According to the Project Manager, they are going to cater for severe sickness that will be cure at home.
He went on that they will give their own help for major sickness that needs overseas treatment and will help to ask others to help the child.
Apart from the above, they have trained 30 boys with the age of 17 and above in each community to be monitoring the children and talk with their parents and guardians on things that are affecting the children.
These same boys will sensitize the communities about the prevention of the Coronavirus disease. FANT SL also has trained Social Workers who goes from one community to another to sensitize adult youths both boys and girls on riots, rape and prostitution.
The above project according to the Project Manager will last for six months.
