FREETOWN – As Coronavirus is still ravaging in the world with no conclusion that it will end soon, the International Cricket Council (ICC) in collaboration with the Africa Cricket Association (ACA) has released a pathway COVID19 plans for their upcoming tournaments.
In the release of the pathway, all Cricket nations are asked to incorporate into their budget the COVID19 Plans mentioned bellow.
In the release for the budget, they should mention the cost for two tests of which the tests should be one before departure and one on arrival.
There should be a provision for extra accommodation for two nights (assuming those results are back within this time frame and all okay).
They mentioned also the provision for extra isolation room on hold for the duration of the event. For catering, they said there should be no buffet or sharing but it should be individual boxes.
There should be regular temperature check measures at the hotel, match venues and training venues. The transports should be clean or sanitize every day.
In respect of the above, there should be extra sanitization material installed at the venues and cleaners to do regular sanitization.
There should also be COVID19 education posters on the line of all venues on anti-discrimination policy, reminding all participants of their responsibility.
For host countries, the release stated that there should be government requirement which needs to be implemented before permission is granted to host a multi-team event and could be less or more stringent than the above.
The Sierra Leone Cricket Board Chairman Bournes-Coker told SALONE TIMES Sports that the above release indicates that tournament will kick-off at any time next year.
He went on that presently countries they should compete with are now training while they are still waiting for the ban on sports activities to be lifted.
He called on the government to look into the above and ease restriction on the ban a bit.
