The grand finale of Cricket Sierra Leone’s U-19 Women’s T20 League will take place tomorrow at the Kingtom Oval, where defending champions Mid-West Women will face the Sierra Leone Police U-19 Women’s team.
In the semi-finals, Mid-West dominated Murray Town Women, bowling them out for just 47 runs in 12.5 overs. Openers Fatu Conteh and Hassanatu Sawaneh led the chase, reaching 49 runs in just 7.1 overs without losing a wicket. Fatu Conteh scored 24 runs off 27 balls, while Hassanatu added 22 runs off 16 balls. For Murray Town, Hawa Kamara was the top scorer with 13 runs, but Mid-West’s bowlers, especially Hassanatu Sawaneh, who took 4 wickets for 10 runs in 3.5 overs, sealed the game.
In the second semi-final, the Police Women faced the Correctional Service U-19 Women in a highly anticipated forces derby. Correctional, considered the favorites, won the toss and chose to bat, posting 90 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. However, the Police Women chased down the target with 91 runs in 16 overs, losing 5 wickets along the way, winning by 5 wickets to secure their spot in the final.
The final is expected to attract high-profile guests, including the Chief Minister, the Minister of Sports, the Executive Director of the National Sports Authority, and the Inspector General of Police.
Before the final, the third-place match between Correctional and Murray Town Women will be held on Saturday.
