FREETOWN, Jan. 26. (232news.com) – Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed primarily on December 25 as a means of celebrating the day, A Place Of Hops Ministries (APOHM) USA-Sierra Leone celebrated with kids at Big Wharf, Mabella and Handicap Youth Development Association (HYDA) at ECOWAS Street respectively.
The celebrations which took the form of feeding, dancing and storytelling about Jesus brought joy to the children and their parents.
A Place Of Hops Ministries (APOHM) USA-Sierra Leone, in line with their vision and mission has been feeding children in different communities and schools in Freetown in the campaign title Jesus Cares Campaign which meant to bring hope, strength and courage rising to greater good of children and mothers.
The founder of A Place of Hope (APOHM) Pastor Henrietta Jones explained that the Ministries was born out of the need to reach out to their fellow citizens to provide nutritious meals to children during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She continued to say APOHM is a non-profit organisation that provides weekly nutritious meals to children and baby food to infants aged 6 to12 months in underprivileged communities to help with their developmental growth and eradicate hunger.
Madam Jones disclosed that APOHM also provides scholarships to school age children in Freetown. Currently, APOHM has fed over 20,000 kids and infants since April of 2020 in 30 locations in Freetown.
She said Christmas is a merry moment to celebrate the birth of the saviour of the World, through that they brought the children together to share love for one another as they are the future Teachers, Lawyers, President, Judges, Politicians, Secretaries, Bank personnels, Mothers, Fathers, Doctors, Engineers, Mayors, Counselor, and so on.
Big Wharf Community Chief Yabom Posseh Roy the Second expressed joy and appreciation to APOHM for reaching out to them for the second time.
She also thanked them for the T-Shirt and all they have been doing for her community.
APOHM Supervisor, Fanita Conteh and team interacted with the kids throughout the day.
