FREETOWN, June 27 (232news.com) – Globalrisk Insurance Company (GIC) – SL Ltd has adhered to their policies with customers nationwide as it presented a cheque of over Le 40 million to two families of deceased teachers in Njala Makonda, Masingbi and five teachers’ loan in Kailahun recently.
The Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of GIC, Paul Oparah stated that he is poised to do more to enhance the lives of civil servants so that they can improve their full potentials and achieve their dreams to live a comfortable life with their families, as this is almost impossible to achieve in their daily life considering the world economic trends.
Paul Oparah disclosed that the company has branches in Makeni, Bo and Kenema with its Headquarter at 2 Wellington Street in Freetown and that it was established and started operations in 2020.
According to the Chief Executive Office, several customers have benefited from the loan scheme as the procedures are consistent with their policies, noting that their deceased customers’ families have received their benefits of over Hundred Million Leones (Le 100,000,000) nationwide with the public witnessing such handing over.
He stated that the company’s loan scheme is in full operations, and that they started granting loans to their customers since 2021, which is just a year ago and that the company has disbursed over Eight Hundred Million Leones (Le 800, 000,000) to their customers nationwide.
He said that insurance has to do with human life and that the company’s plan is to support families and also don’t request for collateral as other institutions.
“Life insurance contribution helps us to save as the insurance company pay individual contribution with interest and this benefit GIC is paying the deceased families; Aminata Jalloh who joined the scheme 9 months ago and passed away, we are today paying to the family Le 11.1 million and also in Joseph Yamba Turay who joined the insurance 6 months and passed away, GIC pays the family Le 10.3 million,” he said.
He admonished people to join insurance institutions that have great benefit for the future and people should ensure to utilize such services available around them.
He called on the private sector to design services that will uplift the standard of life of the citizens, adding that GIC as an institution is bent on improving the lives of all Sierra Leoneans that are eligible and able to accept their policies
He explained that the Gobalrisk Insurance Company has life insurance products include such as: ‘Gentri’ Assurance Plan, Guaranteed Education Assurance Plan among others, and that the primary objective of the ‘Gentri’ Assurance Plan is to ensure that the policy holders live a good life by making affordable loan facility to the customers so that they can acquire basic household assets, save for the future, as well as providing benefit for dependants in the event of death of the customer; the Guaranteed Education Assurance Plan helps customers save towards the future education of their children, as well as providing yearly financial support to the child up to 18 years in the event that the customer dies before that period.
Solomon Amara, Acting Head Teacher University International School commended Globalrisk Insurance Company for their adherence to the agreement of their customers, noting that the benefit paid to the late Aminata Jalloh will go a long way to enhance and encourage teachers to join the scheme with a minimum of Le 100,000 monthly contributions.
The wife of the Late Joseph Yamba Turay, Kadiatu Sankoh praised the company for adhering to their policies and called on others to join the company that is real and fair to their customers, adding that it is not easy to lose a loved one, but that it is the test of time and it is death we are waiting for on earth.
One of the customers and beneficiaries of the loan, Sahr Momoh a teacher also commended GIC for fulfilling their contractual obligation of their policyholders in a year contribution to the scheme, adding, “today we are receiving Le 19 million loan in an insurance company that was established a year ago but that for several insurance companies to adhere to loan even after being with them for two or more years and that when they even decide to loan you, they will only give you Le 600,000.”
Sahr Momoh assured that he will continue to contribute to the GIC as the loan will be utilise for its purpose.
