Few weeks back, Sierra Leone Volleyball Association made a success in the just concluded West Africa 2022 Zonal Beach Volleyball championship in Banjul Gambia.
The association took part in the championship with the male and female senior team. The female team emerged as the champions winning the champion trophy and gold medals.
The male team ended in third position and was giving the bronze medals. According to the head of the technical team Coach Sorie, the team traveled by road.
Despite the challenges they went through on the road, he said both teams were determined which led them to return home with laurels.
Back home they presented the medals and the trophy to their prime sponsor Africell, the leading GSM operator in Sierra Leone last Friday 23 September.
In a press briefing at the Africell head office, the management of the company said they were celebrating with the team and commended them for job well done.
The Chief Corporate Officer of the company Joe Abass Bangura said the relation between them and Volleyball started long ago and has gone far.
He went on that as a corporate entity they are happy that they partner with an association that is winning laurels for the country, assuring them that the relationship will continue. Present from the side of Africell were Joe Abass Bangura Chief Cooperate officer, Abdul Aziz Head Of Event and Sponsorship. John Conteh Media Manager, Nancy Turay Assistant Media Manager.
On the side of Volleyball were Ahmed Khanu President Sierra Leone Volleyball Association, Sorie Kamara Head of Technical, Madam T. Fofanah female coach, Abdul Razack Kalala male coach, Famata Binta Bah female team captain, Gladys Mabinty Fofanah John Sorie Kamara male captain and Ismeal Bangura. At the celebration ceremony, Africell awarded the Volleyball delegation medals and cash prize for the team.
