After A Successful Governance Development Program … SLCA Revamp Governance Structure To Push The Game To Higher Level

FREETOWN, Aug 16 (SALONE TIMES) –  After a peaceful elective congress, the new board members of Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) decided to hold a two days Governance and Development Conference in Bo.

The two days conference started on Saturday 7^th August and ended on Sunday 8^th August 2021.

The new board believes that to succeed in developing the game they need to restructure and reform. In this case, they decided to look into the 2020 reviewed constitution to iron out gray areas.

They invited two speakers to look into the above constitution and to talk on areas that need amendments. The two people were Rodney Michael, a season Sports administrator who also played and knows much about Cricket rules and regulations.

Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai a Lawyer by profession and also a season sports administrator, was the other speaker.

The two looked into the review 2020 constitution and came out with suggestions virtually. The stakeholders who were at the conference also asked them questions on areas they want them to through light on.

According to the newly elected Chairman Francis Samura the conference was a success and can now enable them to enlarge the game and take it to a higher level.

Francis said they were facing some challenges in the smooth running of the association and it one reason why they hold the retreat in Bo.

Besides, he said the Vice Chairman of the association Martin Michael Esq advised them to look into some specific clauses in their constitution which have ambiguities.

He went on that in this case they decided to take the stakeholders to Bo so that nothing will distract them from what was going on in the conference.

Most of the problems in sports development, he said is due to lack of proper administrative structure.

The stakeholders commended the new board for such a brilliant idea as most of them accepted that they learnt a lot of things for which they weren’t knowledgeable.

The other reason to hold the conference in Bo was to enable the southern region and other regional members to meet with their new board members and other regional members in the country.
