The organizing committee of the France 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games has gone ahead to put mechanizing’s in place for tough measures during the Games.
By so doing, they organized a two days’ program in which they invited all the members of the International Olympic Committee members in the world.
In the program, they briefed the participants on how to maintain peaceful competitions in the Games from start to finish.
Sierra Leone was represented by Captain John Kanu the president of Baseball and Softball Association. Captain Kanu was appointed among the lot by the executive of the NOCSLE to represent Sierra Leone.
Back home, he briefed the media about the important of the security program at the NOC Head office at Walpole Street in Freetown on Friday.
Captain Kanu thanked the NOC Executive for appointing him to represent them which he said beside he been an Army officer they appointed him because they believed he will represent them well in such capacity.
The two seminar was attended by all the Olympic members in the world. The organizing committee, he said organized the security seminar to allay the fears of the various countries that will be taking part in the Olympic and the Paralympic Games in Paris city based on the recent riots in France.
Captain Kanu went on that the local organizing committee in France want all participants to know what they are up to during the Games and at the same be guided with the security rules of the Games.
In this case, he said they should know what to do and what not to do that will bring security threat during the Games.
The Olympic Games is the biggest Games in the world attended by various Sports Ministers, Sports Association Presidents and top athletes in the world.
These people, they said need protection in the Games village, the sports facilities, the Hotels and the entire streets in the city. In the program, the president of the Paris local organizing committee Tony Estaguest assured that there will be enough security including private security personnel’s to protect everyone in the Games.
The Local Organizing president said they will be reviewing the security positions at the end of 2023 and a few weeks before the Games. Kanu emphasized the importance of organizing a local seminar at home to enlighten officials and athletes that will be going to France so that they will not fall sort of the security laws put in place.
