FREETOWN – The popular saying what happens in Lebanon stay in Lebanon could not apply to the President of Sierra Leone as her flippant wife, Fatima Jabbie Bio was explaining all that happened in Lebanon on her social media platform.
It could be recalled that a press release from State House signed by the Press State Secretary, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi in mid-August this year stated that the President will be going on a week visit in Lebanon with scanty or no information about the “Private Visit.”
This came as a shock to Sierra Leoneans especially when most people believed that the President should be seen championing the COVID-19 response in Sierra Leone.
The lack of information on the whereabout of the President fueled rumours that the President was sick and that’s the reason he went to Lebanon.
Information Minister, Mohamed Rahman Swaray said that people should respect the privacy of the president.
Having spent more than a week, the Press Secretary said on Facebook that the President has extended the stay, a situation which got many people worried.
It was not until last week, that the first lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Jabbie Bio informed the people that they are in honeymoon in Lebanon with photos of the President and the first lady on her facebook page celebrating love.
This sparked debate on social media which majority of Sierra Leoneans condemning the President for what they described as abandoning them in a critical time just to be brandishing love in Labanon.
