FREETOWN, Mar. 10 (SALONE TIMES) – The Anglican Bishop of Freetown, His Lordship Thomas A.I. Wilson over the weekend took a kick-off at the Bishop Johnson School Grounds to start the Anglican Diocesan Men’s Union Gala. The entire Gala is one of the various rebranding activities of the new Diocesan Men’s Union administrative aimed at bringing together men from the nine deaneries of the Anglican churches in Freetown and the north.
Before taking the kick off, the Bishop said that the gala, which was the first to be held by the Diocesan Men’s Union, was the start of a new beginning in the activities of not only the men of the diocese but the entire Freetown Diocese. He referred to the theme of the last Triennial Synod held at Christ Church in Freetown which was break camp and advance. He noted that for far too long the men of the diocese had been staying stagnant in the same position but with this new development, he challenged the men to advance for the betterment of the Diocese.
The President of the Diocesan Men’s Union Mr. Gerald Perry called on his colleagues whom he referred to as Men of Valour to take part in not only the football match but in the other activities of the Diocesan Men’s Union.
The Matches will be played at two venues; the Bishop Johnson Memorial School grounds for the churches in the east end of Freetown and the Prince Of Wales School grounds for the churches in the west.
