Anglican Diocese of Freetown DMU executive during the Conference

FREETOWN, Oct. 3 (232News) –The national body of Diocesan Men’s Union of the Anglican Diocese of Freetown has over the weekend held their 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in which a new executive was elected to run the affairs of the union for the next twelve months.

The one-day event was held at the Anglican Cathedral Hall at Gloucester Street, in Freetown on Saturday, 25th September attracted massive attendance from its constituent’s churches across and around Freetown with a colossal attendance that crossed over 400 members.

The AGM starts the tenure of a new executive that assume Bro. Gerald J.W. Perry as President after his unchallenged election, and Brother Donald Theo-Harding and Brother Fumi Grants-Davies as first and second Vice President of the Union respectively.

Among other officers of the union that were elected were Brother Frank Cole, Union’s Secretary, Brother Raymond Taiwo-Johnson, Treasurer, and Brother Bunting V. Williams as Public Relation Officer.

In his statement as the then acting president, Gerald Perry said even though they appointed him at an emergency meeting after the death of former president, Charles E.B. Williams, they have been surviving as a union through the grace of God amidst all challenges.

As an acting President, Perry said his anticipation was to rebrand the union in a bid to attract more members, but that it is unfortunate that the union lost 38 of its members.

He continued that his 7-month tenure as acting president was challenging as they were unable to carry out their normal activities and plans due to the global pandemic.

According to the elected vice President, Brother Donald Theo-Harding, the tragic loss of their past president showed their resilience as a union.

He appreciated everyone for their attendance with a special note to the president whom he described as zealous devotee.

With gratitude, he extended special appreciation to former presidents of the union whose position in the union has been very essential.

He assured the transformation of the union and urged members to support the drive of the executive to enhance success and described their executive as fire branded.

The AGM was climaxed with food and drinks, as members ate, drink and had endless conversations.
