Abass Mid-West Captain Ready To Take All The Catches Tomorrow

After a raining season break, the Cricket Sierra Leone Senior Men’s T20 Premier League resumed on Wednesday with two matches at the Kingtom Cricket Ovals.

The above league was stopped due to the heavy rains after two matches played. In all, seven premier league clubs are battling in the premier league.

The defending champions Special Line CC were at the top of the league table at the time of the break and are still maintaining the top position at the time of going to press.

 The league leaders Special Line are leading the table with 4 points after 2 matches played, followed by the SL Police CC in 2nd with 4 points in 2 matches played, Mid-West in 3rd and Asian Pro in 4th with 3 points each in two matches played.  

On Wednesday, Mid-West defeated the most improved club Wanderers CC by 92 runs. Mid-West batted first and scored 146 runs loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. The Wanderers replied with top fight but were squeezed to score 54 runs all out in 14.3 Overs.

 In the match the best performers in the batting were Ismael Komba from Mid-West with 45 runs off 42 balls, Sylvester Kamara Wanderers CC 25 runs off 34 balls and James Bangura Mid-West CC with 22 runs off 16 balls.       

In the bowling Samuel Conteh for Mid-West took 5 wickets in 4.0 Overs, conceiving just 4 runs with 2 maiden Ovals and won the man of the match award, Daniel Lansayo of Mid-West 3 wickets and Sylvanus Kanneh Wanders CC 3 Wickets. 

In the second match, Police defeated Copper Safe CC by 91 runs. The Police won the toss and opted to bat first to pile runs on the young boys which they can’t reply.

The Police scored 165 runs loss of 6 wickets in 20 Overs. Copper Safe replied with 74 runs loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Top batters in the match were Muniru Kpaka with 51 runs off 31 balls, he hit four 4 runs and one 6 runs, John Lassayo 32 runs off 30 balls and Yegbeh Jalloh 30 runs off 24 balls all from the Police CC. Muniru, Lassayo and Ibrahim Kpaka all took 2 wickets each.

 Ibrahim Kpaka was introduced as a bowler for the first time in his Cricket career and took his premier league wickets in the match.

After the match, he thanked his captain Abu Bakarr Kamara who gave him the chance to bowl even though that was his first time to bowl. Muniru Kpaka won the man of the match award.  

The league will continue this weekend with the league leaders Special Line and Mid-West playing two matches on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

On Saturday Mid-West will engage Copper Safe CC in the morning hours and in the afternoon Wanderers will host Special Line.

On Sunday, Special Line will host Asian Lions in the morning hours and in the afternoon Mid-West will battle with Gujarat all at the Kingtom Ovals.
