FREETOWN, Apr. 16 (SALONE TIMES) –The Zone 2 Boxing championship hosted in Sierra Leone ended on Thursday night with Senegal winning 11 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 2 bronze medals and also grabbed the champion trophy of the tournament.

In second position was Cape Verde with 4 gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal followed by Sierra Leone in third position with 2 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 5 bronze medals.

The gold medalists for Sierra Leone in the tournament were Zainab Keita in the 70kg category and Sara H Joo in the 54 kg category.

Apart from the two female gold medalists, five male fighters and one female battle in six final fight and lost all to grab silver medals.

Among the silver medalists were Arnold Koroma 51 kg, Benjamin Davies 54kg, John Browne 67kg, Mohamed Sillah 71kg, Yusuf Kargbo 67kg, Solomon Farma 92kg and Isha Fofanah 52kg.

Five male fighters won bronze for Sierra Leone. The best referee of the tournament award went to Gomes from Cape Verde. It was announced that the next Zone2 championship will be hosted in Senegal next year.
