FREETOWN – Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA on Monday presented coaches, Team Managers and Technical Coordinators to the Ministry of Sports.
The presentation was done at the Siaka Steven Stadium Atlantic Hall, Brookfields, in Freetown. In all, they did presentation for 8 National teams, underage and senior teams for both male and female national teams.
Among those appointed were two non-coaches, former national teams’ players. Musu Pele Bangura as Team Manager for the U-20 national female team and Amadu Rapel Kamara as Technical Coordinator for the U-20 Men’s and female national teams.
The FA also appointed two former players and retired coaches. Sam Obi Metzger as Technical Coordinator for Senior Men’s and Women’s national team.
Abdulai Garincha Sesay was appointed as Technical Coordinator for Men’s Home Base and U-23 National team. Joseph Toby an assistant FA’s Technical Director was appointed as Technical Coordinator for U-17 Boys, U-17 Girls and U-15 Boys national teams.
According to the FA, coaches appointed as head coaches are to forgo their club jobs and concentrate on the national team jobs.
According to the General Secretary of the FA Chris Kamara, they have already gone into agreement with the appointed head coaches and they will soon sign three year’s contract with the government together with the other technical team staffs. If this decision stands, the premier league defending champions East End Lions will lose their head coach John Edward Kiester, FC Johansen will lose their head Coach Abdulai Kaloga Bah while East End Tigers will also lose their head coach Victoria Conteh. Real Mack a division 1 club will lose their head coach, Abu Sankoh.
The Sports Minister Ibrahim Nyelenkeh assured all the coaches both head and assistants that the government will soon sign three years contracts with them with lucrative salaries but warned that they need the best from them in their jobs.
